Pvt. W.A.S. Starrett Collection – Purchased from his great-granddaughter and in my personal collection for the past few years – The Bowie is beautifully engraved “The Patriots Self Defender” and the makers name “Sheffield” – Also his name is scratched on the guard – The crutch is also marked W.S.A. Starrett as well as the marking “13th N.H.” – Records show he belonged to the 13th New Hampshire Regiment – The photograph in the period case is not original simply because she would not sell it to me…why? – The other photographs are copies of Pvt. Starrett in his mid-age, older-age, and his obituary – A mother of pearl pin with his initials is also pictured – His personal shawl also is included – The woven hair flowers accompanied all of the items – His military records show that he obviously had dysentery very badly on two occasions and hurt his back at the hospital as well such as is the purpose of the crutch – A wonderful personal collection
