Original Confederate Side Knife from an Ashland Virginia Estate sale. I purchased this knife approximately 30 years ago and it has been in my personal collection since. The knife blade measures 7” long with the handle and cross guard measuring 4” for an overall measurement of 11 1/16”. The blade at the base measures 7/8”. The blade is definitely hand forged and has a rounded effect as if intended to give it a diamond shaped form. The brass guard is beautifully designed and in very good condition. The blade is very dark and has a very fine age crack which does not harm the effect of the blade at all. The handle looks to be pine and is in very good condition on one side and on the opposite side two gauges and a crack appear as pictured. The original leather scabbard was with this knife when I purchased it and fits perfectly and is in poor condition as pictured but has not come apart and has not been repaired. Often called the “Confederate Arkansas Toothpick” and this style know to be carried by Arkansas Confederate troops. Here is an opportunity to own an original Confederate Side Knife at a reasonable price.
